'On the 8th August, 1918, during the attack on the enemys position east of HAMEL, B.S.M. QUARRY displayed much bravery in the handling of his Pack troop and established two forward Brigade dumps, containing ammunition and bombs, shortly after Zero hour. Although subjected to heavy enemy fire, by his skilful direction he carried out the operation mentioned without casualties. By his cheerfulness and bravery he set a very fine example to the men of his troop.'
