Military Medal

'This man displayed very great gallantry when stretcher bearing during operations 28th/29th September, 1917, east of YPRES. Though very fatigued on 28th September, 1917, he continued to carry for 24 hours several times through a heavy barrage. His fine example did much to keep other equally fatigued bearers carrying on with their arduous work.'
