Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During operations against an enemy position Lieutenant Raff led a party with great gallantry and initiative against an enemy post which was dangerous to our out-post line. He captured the post with a machine gun and two prisoners. His quick appreciation of the needs of the situation and immediate action were mainly responsible for the success of the enterprise.'
