Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 22 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 28 March 1916. Admitted to 36th Casualty Clearing Station, 11 December 1916 (pneumonia); transferred to England, 24 December 1916. Admitted to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 6 February 1917; discharged on furlough,12 February 1917, to report to No. 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 27 February 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 15 November 1917. Wounded in action, 18 September 1918 (gun shot wound, left thigh); transferred to England, 21 September 1918, and admitted to Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, 22 September 1918.
