Military Medal 'At Hooge, France on 20th Sept., 1917, during operation in Glencorse Wood and Polygonvelde Woods, Pte Raine, a Lewis Gunner, after the remainder of his team had become casualties, remained at his post which was being heavily shelled, and continued to use his gun. When his Company was relieved he was overlooked but remained on duty at his post until next day. His splendid courage and determination set a fine example to his comrades.'
