Wounded in action, 4 November 1917 (gassed), and admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance; transferred to 5th Convalescent Depot, 19 November 1917; discharged to Base Depot, 23 November 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 4 December 1917.

Admitted to 47th Casualty Clearing Station, 27 May 1918 (pyrexia, known origin); discharged to duty, 3 June 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, 4 June 1918.

Wounded in action (second occasion), 3 October 1918 (gas shell), and admitted to 12th Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to 72nd General Hospital, 6 October 1918 (gas shell wound); to No 1 Convalescent Depot, 17 October 1918.

Found guilty, Field General Court Martial, Havre, 28 October 1918, of being concerned in unlawfully purchasing one pair of riding breeches: awarded 6 months' imprisonment with hard labour, and forfeiture of a total of 189 days' pay.
