Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty as leader of a bombing squad. After being severely wounded, he continued bombing the enemy position until his party were safe, although he was under heavy machine gun fire at close range. He refused to be carried, and walked over a mile to the dressing station in order to save the stretcher bearers, who were busily engaged at the time.'
