Military Medal 'On the morning 16th August 1918, near LIHONS, Lance Corporal BLAW, who was in charge of the Battalion Scouts, displayed unexampled energy, fearlessness and resource as patrol leader. At the time the enemy dispositions were uncertain, but BLAW repeatedly led patrols forward, established contact with the enemy right along out front and brought back such accurate reports of the maze of trenches in front that the Battalion was enabled to advance another 500 yards without a casualty. BLAW was an inspiring example to his men, and his skill in reconnaissance was only equalled by his bravery.'
