Military Medal 'On the 4th October, 1917, East of YPRES, under heavy shell fire he assisted to render First Aid to a number of men who had been wounded along the road. He also assisted to get them into shelter during the shelling and when it quietened down, he brought them on to the Relay Post. He carried on during the time that he was in the Forward Area under very trying conditions. By his coolness and disregard for personal safety, this N.C.O. set a splendid example to his men.'
