Military Medal 'During the attack on MONTBREHAIN, east of PERONNE, on 5th October, 1918, this man acted as a runner and carried messages unremittingly throughout the day, and this too in most cases through the heaviest machine gun and shell fire. On one occasion when it appeared like certain death to venture out into the open REID volunteered and carried to Company Headquarters a very import despatch, on the receipt of which depended the security of the whole line. He was at all times quick and reliable, and his conduct throughout was of a very high order.'
