Military Medal 'During the advance on GLENCORSE WOOD east of YPRES on 20th September 1917, this N.C.O. showed great initiative and daring in leading his men against an enemy concrete Strong Point under severe Machine Gun fire. He captured it together with 1 machine gun and 7 prisoners. He then reorganised his platoon and established a dump at the first objective. He led ammunition carrying parties to the front line all day under heavy shell fire. Throughout the whole of the action his fine example and leadership were a great incentive to his men.'
