Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. In broad daylight he and two others went out and captured two of the enemy from one outpost and returned safely. Later, the same party visited another psot which was strongly held, and killed eight of the enemy. He and his party showed fine courage and initiative.'
