Proceeded overseas to France, 1 April 1918, and reverted to Private; taken on strength, 14th Bn, in the field, 17 April 1918.

Wounded in action, 18 September 1918 (gun shot wound, right hand), and admitted to 4th Australian Field Ambulance; transferred to 55th Casualty Clearing Station, 19 September 1918; to 5th General Hospital, Rouen, 19 September 1918; to No 2 Convalescent Depot, 20 September 1918; to No 11 Convalescent Depot, Buchy, 21 September 1918; to No 1 Australian Convalescent Depot, Havre, 6 October 1918; to Intermediate Base Depot, 8 October 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, 25 October 1918.

Marched out to Englad; disembarked Southampton, 22 April 1919.

Granted leave with pay and subs, 28 April-2 July 1919 (Non-Military Employment, farm labourer, attending T. Pugh, North Wales).

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Ajana', 19 August 1919; disembarked Sydney, 9 October 1919; discharged (medically unfit), Melbourne, 14 December 1919.
