'During the attack on the German lines near ZONNEBEKE on 26th September, 1917, Corporal BLOMQUIST showed conspicuous gallantry as a volunteer stretcher bearer, going out continuously under heavy shell fire to dress and carry in wounded men single handed. After our new position was consolidated BLOMQUIST assisted carrying wounded men to the R.A.P., a distance of 1500 yards for 10 hours. By his utter contempt for shell fire and tireless energy he set a splendid example.'
