Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This N.C.O. at the Battle of BROODSINDE RIDGE carried most important despatches from Group Headquarters to the Battery through very heavy shell fire. At MESSINES, and from 1st August to the present date, this N.C.O. acted as Battery Orderly, carrying important despatches and messages at all times, day and night, along roads and tracks subjected to heavy enemy fire. His unfailing energy and devotion to duty have been a fine example of courage and determination to the men of his Battery.'
