Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry during operations. When he heard a bomb fusing in a full magazine he rushed forward at once and threw the fusing bomb over the parapet, where it at once exploded. This plucky act saved the explosion of all the bombs at a time when they were much needed.'
