Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry during operations. Though wounded while acting as carrier, he applied his first field dressing and then resumed work under very heavy fire, refusing to be properly attended to. He carried on till he was wounded by shrapnel and forced to withdraw.'
