Military Medal 'At CLERY, near MT. ST. QUENTIN, on the 1st September 1918, this N.C.O. was in charge of the Brigade Forward Station. Throughout the day it was subjected to exceedingly heavy shellfire. Despite this, Sergeant ROBERTS carried out his duties with an absolute disregard of danger. The forward lines were repeatedly cut by enemy action, and many of this N.C.O.'s party became casualties. but Sergeant ROBERTS worked continuously for 60 hours repairing lines and controlling the station. He showed a great disregard of danger and his work was invaluable in maintaining communications.'
