Military Medal 'Private ROBERTS has been in many stunts, and has shown great bravery and devotion to duty in all. on 3rd October, 1918, at GRANDCOURT, east of AMIENS, Private ROBERTS was detailed to take despatches to all companies of his Battalion during the battle, in company with Private [4800 S.F.] HIRSCHAUSEN. The shelling was very heavy, as was the machine gun and rifle fire. Despite all difficulties, and having been both partially buried by a 5.9" shell, these two soldiers faithfully and fearlessly completed the delivery of their orders, and set a fine example of courage and devotion to duty to all ranks.'
