Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an attack. When his platoon was held up by an enemy machine gun post be brought his Lewis gun into action, and with four men worked round the flank, rushing the post andcapturing eleven prisoners. He displayed great courage and good leadership throughout.'
