War service: wounded in action, Gallipoli, 24 June 1915 (gun shot wound, left hand); transferred to 1st Stationary Hospital, Mudros, 25 June 1915; to Alexandria on board HS 'Dunluce Castle', 30 June 1915; admitted to Greek Hospital, 3 July 1915. Discharged to Mustapha Convalescent Camp, 14 July 1915.

Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 22 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 28 March 1916. Found guilty of conduct prejudicial to military order and discipline: awarded 3 days' Field Punlishment No. 2, 8 April 1916.

Wounded in action, 23 July 1916 (gun shot wound, skull); transferred to England and admitted to Military Hospital, Chatham, 28 July 1916. Discharged to No. 1 Command Depot, 19 August 1916. Granted furlough, 25 August 1916, to report 14 September 1916. Found guilty, 26 October 1916, of being absent without leave, 18-25 October 1916: awarded 8 days' detention and forfeiture of 16 days' pay. Rejoined Bn, 4 December 1916.

Wounded in action, 28 December 1916 (multiple gun shot wounds); died of wounds, 38th Casualty Clearing Station, 29 December 1916.
