Distinguished Conduct Medal

'On 1st May, 1915, during operations near Kaba Tepe. For distinguished conduct in the command of a platoon, guiding and controlling the men after the Officer Commanding the platoon had been wounded. Although in an exposed position he personally carried up ammunition and freely exposed himself.'
