'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the attack on POLYGON WOOD on the morning of the 20th September, 1917, Sapper BOHAN on three separate occasions went through a particularly heavy enemy barrage and repaiphone wires connecting two important stations. On the third occasion he had to remain in the barrage for a considerable time while he carried out repairs.'
