Taken on strength, 57th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 23 February 1916.

Transferred to 13th Field Artillery Brigade, 27 March 1916, and posted to Brigade Headquarters.

Mustered as Driver, Ferry Post, 17 April 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 16 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 23 June 1916.

On leave, 3 June 1917; rejoined unit, in the field, from leave, 7 June 1917.

Wounded in action, 6 September 1917 (gassed), and admitted to 61st Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to Ambulance Train No 28, 7 September 1917, and admitted same day to 2nd Australian General Hospital, Boulogne; transferred to England, 9 September 1917, and admitted to Bath War Hospital, 10 September 1917 (gassed, shell: severe). Discharged on furlough, 4 October 1917, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 18 October 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 15 November 1917; rejoined unit, in the field, 23 November 1917.

On leave, 24 January 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 5 February 1918.

On leave to United Kingdom, 15 December 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 18 January 1919.
