Military Medal 'On 11th April, 1917, this man did very good work near BULLECOURT assisting one of the Vickers Gun Crews of 4th Australian Machine Gun Company attached to 13th Battalion. He carried ammunition, three boxes and a box of spare parts, a load of 75 lbs. When the gun was mounted he took up a position alongside the gun assisted to work it, and remained on watch. When the withdrawal took place the sole surviving member of the crew carried the gun and Private ROSS carried the tripod. He displayed conspicuous gallantry and did excellent work.'
