'Private BOLES, was a stretcher bearer to a Pioneer Working Party constructing Tunnels through the Railway embankment between BUIRE and DERNANCOURT near Albert on 5th April, 1918. During the enemy attack Private BOLES did splendid work dressing wounds of both Infantry and Pioneers, moving about continuously under heavy Machine gun, Trench Mortar and Shell fire, by his coolness and bravery setting a splendid example to all the men there.'
