Military Medal

'Showed great bravery and untiring energy during attack on the German positions on 5th November, 1916, north of FLERS. His duty was that of stretcher bearer, and he displayed great self sacrifice and disregard of personal safety in his work, returning repeatedly to No Man's Land under very heavy shell and rifle fire to rescue a number of wounded comrades.'
