'On many occasions west of MORLANCOURT, near ALBERT between the 27th March, 1918, and 10th April, 1918, this man did splendid work as a runner. He traversed areas which were being subjected to heavy bombardment and at all times delivered despatches entrusted to his care without delay. His cheerfulness and readiness to volunteer for runs involving great personal risk were very marked and the example set by him was a particularly fine one.'
