'Private ROWLAND did exceptionally good work at the R.A.P. of the 21st Battalion east of BULLECOURT on the 3rd May 1917 rendering first aid to wounded and carrying them to posts of safety under heavy enemy shell fire and machine gun fire regardless of personal safety. he was finally wounded while attending to a wounded men.'
