Military Medal 'This Non-commissioned Officer is brought to notice for the daring patrol work carried out by him on the night of the 31st March/1st April, 1918, and again during the morning of the 1st April, 1918 in daylight near HEBUTERNE, when he worked his way across "No Man's Land", (a distance of some two hundred yards) and personally investigated the strongly held enemy position. On the valuable information obtained by this Non-commissioned Officer the plans for the successful attack subsequently made by us were based. It was a daring exploit, successfully accomplished, and he is highly recommended for distinction.'
