Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During enemy counter attacks he worked his gun with coolness and courage, and caused many casualties to the enemy, inspiring the men under him by his courage and determination. Throughout the action he did most valuable work in a cool and determined manner, in spite of heavy casualties to his team.'
