Military Medal 'During the operations 29th and 31st August, 1916, this lad was in charge of the Battalion runners. He carried out the duties of a runner in addition to his supervision of the remainder, and rendered most valuable service. No shell fire was too hot for RYAN, who, with complete disregard of danger, would go through the heaviest fire at any hour of the day or night.'
