Military Medal 'For devotion to duty and coolness under fire during the operations at BROODSEINDE RIDGE east of YPRES on 3rd to 6th October, 1917. Pte. SAMBROOK as Coy. Runner continually carried important messages to Battalion Headquarters and forward position. At such times he had to pass and return through heavy shell and constant machine gun fire. This was especially the case when going to the forward positions. He carried all messages both by day and night quickly and in not one instance did he fail to deliver his message and return with an answer.'
