Embarked Adelaide, 12 July 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 9 September 1916. Proceeded overseas to France, 20 November 1916; taken on strength, 48th Bn, 9 December 1916.

On leave, 4 December 1917; rejoined unit from leave, 20 December 1917.

Wounded in action, 28 March 1918 (gun shot wound, neck), and admitted same day to 56th Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to 22nd General Hospital, Camiers, 29 March 1918; to England, 1 April 1918, and admitted same day to 1st Birmingham War Hospital; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 11 April 1918; to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 8 May 1918. Discharged on furlough, 23 May 1918, to report to No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 6 June 1918.

Awarded Military Medal, 2 May 1918.
