'For devotion to duty during the attack on our position near ALBERT on the morning of April 3rd 1918. During the preliminary bombardment which was particularly heavy Private SCARBOROUGH did excellent work in carrying wounded men to a place of comparative safety where their wounds could be dressed. Regardless of his own safety he continued this during the attack and afterwards assisted to carry the wounded to the R.A.P;. exposed to enemy fire the whole time.'
