Military Medal

'At POLYGON WOOD Area near HOOGE on the 27th and 28th September 1917 No. 4371 Private H.A. SCHENSHER of 'C' Company 32nd Battalion A.I.F. showed exceptional courage and determination under very trying circumstances. Whilst on his way to the trenches he was wounded and twice buried. Despite the fact that he was gain buried the following day and badly shaken about he carried out his duties as a Company Runner through most heavy barrages, succeeding in getting very important messages through until finally he was again buried and had his leg broken.'
