War service: Egypt, Western Front Embarked Adelaide, 18 November 1915; disenmbarked Suez, 18 December 1915. Found guilty, Ismailia, 21 January 1916, of disobedience of orders, viz. failing to report on 2 pm parade: awarded 3 days' confined to barracks and forfiture of 2 days' pay. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 17 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 23 June 1916. Wounded in action, 20 July 1916 (gun shot wound, thighs), and admitted to 15th Field Ambulance, and transferred to Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train, 21 July 1916, and admitted to 35th General Hospital, Calais, 23 July 1916 ('dangerously ill'); transferred to England, 26 August 1916, and admitted same day to Military Hospital, Norwich; transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 11 May 1917. Commenced return to Australia on board HS 'Karoola', 3 July 1917; disembarked Adelaide, 23 August 1917; discharged (medically unfit), 25 February 1918.
