Military Medal 'For bravery and devotion to duty. These two men [SCOTT and 16751 W.A. SHANNON] were attached to 13th Battalion Headquarters for the purpose of maintaining and repairing lines between that Battalion and Brigade Headquarters at HEBUTERNE North of Albert on 27th and again on 30th March 1918 they were out repairing broken wires at all hours of the day and night regardless of personal risk and the heavy enemy bombardment at those times. During that period they had hardly a wink of sleep. By their action communications were secured and they set a splendid example by their bravery and devotion.'
