Military Medal

'During the attack on POLYGON WOOD east of YPRES on September 20th 1917. When his Section Commander was killed Pte SCOULLER took command and together with another section of Rifle Grenadiers, captured two enemy strong points. He displayed great initiative and set a splendid example to the men inspiring them with great confidence.'

Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 26 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 31 March 1916. Admitted to hospital, 13 January 1917; rejoined Bn, 1 April 1917.

Appointed Lance Corporal, and awarded Military Medal, 20 September 1917.

Admitted to hospital, 26 October 1917; transferred to 2nd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, 28 October 1917. Transferred to England, 5 November 1917, and admitted to Suffolk Hospital, Ampton, 6 November 1917 (trench fever). Transferred to Severals Hospital, Newmarket, 22 November 1917. Granted furlough, 16 January 1918, to report to No. 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, Wiltshire, 31 January 1918.Marched out to Overseas Training Brigade, 18 March 1918. Proceeded overseas to France, 9 April 1918; rejoined Bn, 20 April 1918.

Killed in action, 26 August 1918.
