War service: Western Front Embarked Melbourne on RMS 'Orontes', 23 December 1916; disembarked Plymouth, 17 February 1917; marched into No 3 Camp, Parkhouse, 18 February 1917; marched into RBAA, Larkhill, 26 March 1917. Found guilty at Larkhill, 27 March 1917, of (1) drunkenness, and (2) being out of bounds: awarded 14 days' detention; forfeited total of 14 days' pay; moved out from Larkhill, 3 June 1917; marched into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 4 June 1917. Found guilty at Weymouth, 5 August 1917, of (1) neglect to obey garrison orders insofar as bing in Weymouth without a pass, 9.40 pm, 5 August 1917, and (2) being in possession of alcoholic liquor: awarded 4 days' Field Punishment No 2. Commenced return to Australia on HT 'Anchises', 1 November 1917 (hernia). Found guilty by District Court Martial at sea, 15 December 1917: fined #1.0.0 and awarded 21 days' Field Punishment No 2; disembarked Melbourne, 3 January 1918.
