'Near BRAY on 24th August, 1918, this N.C.O. was responsible for very excellent work. He organised and led forward ration parties under artillery fire supplying outpost troops without delay and under very difficult conditions. During an attack the same night when two enemy machine guns were holding up his Company, he greatly helped in their capture thus enabling his Company to advance without loss. Later he made a valuable reconnaissance of the ground in front of the outpost line. His skill and enterprise was outstanding during this period and his reconnaissance work of inestimable value to his Company Commander.'
