Medaille d'Honneur Avec Glaives (en Bronze) 'For marked courage, skill and devotion to duty. Private SHAMBLER acted as Motor Driver during the operations at YPRES from 1st September, 1917, to 15th November, 1917, carrying out his duties in an exceptionally able manner. Practically every day during this period he was in the shelled area in the MENIN ROAD working under most strenuous conditions setting a high example of courage and skill. Private SHAMBLER was also a stretcher bearer in the advanced line during several big operations notably that at BULLECOURT against the HINDENBERG Line.'
