Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and consistent devotion to duty. This N.C.O. has been with the 54th Battalion since his arrival in France and is a cool, courageous soldier. During the attack on BELLICOURT on 2nd October 1918, he displayed excellent leadership and by his own disregard of danger was an inspiring example to his men. Throughout his 2 1/2 years service in France he has at all times and under most trying circumstances shown great courage and aggressiveness and on several occasions has done most daring patrol work.'
