Military Medal 'In the attack on the morning of 3rd October, 1918, near ESTREES, North of ST. QUENTIN, the left flank was held up by machine gun nests. While the work of clearing out these nests was in progress, the men at our disposal were few in number and working from different directions. This N.C.O. on his own initiative, collected 4 men and rushed a machine gun post, shot the gunner and captured the remainder (7 in all). He then joined 2nd Lieutenant FOOTE and assisted him with two others, to capture 70 prisoners. When this party was counter attacked by about 100 of the enemy, Corporal SHARP showed great coolness and courage and when forced to retire endeavoured to bring back the Lewis gun which had been put ...
