Military Medal 'On 28th August 1918 in the neighbourhood of the village of FOUCAUCOURT South of PERONNE this man worked with his squad for 12 hours backwards and forwards in a wood on which the enemy had placed a heavy barrage. This dangerous work was carried out in a most praiseworthy manner. Finally during the night a shell hit his squad, killed two men and severely wounded the third. This man Private BOOTS carried to a place of safety and then reported to the Regimental Medical Officer who sent him for reinforcement squads. He carried this message down F.A.D.S, and although severely shocked by the shell that had killed his companions, immediately volunteered to act as guide. His plucky behaviour and coolness contributed greatly to the evacuation of the wounded.'
