Embarked Melbourne, 25 September 1916; admitted to ship's isolation ward, at sea, 29 September 1916; discharged to duty, 9 November 1916; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 42 days; disembarked Plymouth, england, 10 November 1916.

Admitted to Military Hospital, Fovant, 12 December 1916 (influenza); marched in to 15th Training Bn, Hurdcott, from hospital, 20 December 1916.

Proceeded overseas to France, 5 March 1917; taken on strength, 57th Bn, in the field, 7 March 1917.

Wounded in action, 2 October 1917 (gun shot wound, left thigh); admitted to 10th Casualty Clearing Station, 3 October 1917; transferred by Ambulance Train No 34 to 1st South African General Hospital, Abbeville, 4 October 1917; transferred to England, 10 November 1917, and admitted to Whipps Cross Hospital, Leytonstone, 11 November 1917; transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 7 January 1918; discharged, 11 January 1918, to report to No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott.

Found guilty, 23 April 1918, of being absent without leave from midnight, 19 April, till 10 pm, 21 April 1918: awarded 3 days' confined to camp, and forfeited 2 days' pay.

Marched in to Overseas Training Brigade, Longbridge Deverill, 30 April 1918.

Proceeded overseas to France, 30 May 1918; rejoined 57th Bn, in the field, 8 June 1918.

On leave to Paris, 1 February 1919; rejoined unit from leave, 11 February 1919.

On leave to United Kingdom, 1 March 1919; rejoined unit from leave, 22 March 1919.

Marched out for return to Australia, 30 May 1919; marched in to No 5 Group, Sutton Veny, 31 May 1919.
