Tried by District Court Martial, Larkhill, 16 March 1917, on charge of being absent without leave, No 5 Camp, durrington, 3 November 1916-27 February 1917: awarded 8 months' imprisonment; 1 month remitted, 22 March 1917; total forfeiture of pay: 347 days; unexpired portion of sentence remitted as from 11 July 1917.

Found guilty, 26 February 1917, of being absent without leave, 25-26 February 1917: awarded 7 days' confined to camp; forfeited a total of 2 days' pay.

Found guilty, 14 March 1918, of being absent without leave, 3-7 March 1918: awarded 168 hours' detention; forfeited 19 days' leave.

Proceeded overseas to France, 19 March 1918; taken on strength, 5th Bn, in the field, 30 March 1918.
