Admitted to 38th Australian Field Ambulance (synovitis, right knee), 26 March 1917; transferred to 53rd Welsh Casualty Clearing Station, 26 March 1917; by ambulance train to 31st General Hospital, 27 March 1917; to hospital train for Cairo, 30 March 1917, and admitted to 14th General Hospital. Discharged to Moascar, 23 April 1917, and taken on strength, 3rd Light Horse Regiment, 23 April 1917. Transferred to 9th Light Horse Regiment, 21 May 1917. Detached to 8th Mobile Veterinary Section, 16 November-21 December 1917.

Admitted to 3rd Light Horse Field Ambulance (appendicitis), 17 April 1918; transferred to 14th Australian General Hospital, Pt Said, 25 April 1918. Transferred to Desert Mounted Corps Rest Camp, 24 June 1918; discharged to Moascar, 17 July 1918. Appointed Lance Corporal, 25 August 1918.
