War service: Egypt, Western Front Allotted to and proceeded to join 58th Bn, 23 February 1916. Transferred to and taken on strength of 50th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 15 March 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916. Reported missing, 19 July 1916. Court of Enquiry, held in the field, 4 August 1917, pronounced fate as 'killed in action, 19 July 1916. Red Cross File No. 2480313L: 'Informant [1258 Pte ALLISON, 6 July 1917: cannot be identified] siad Tom Shephard was in D Coy. 14 Plat. 5 Section and after the Fromelles Attack in July last Pte Stan. Ronalds of the same Plat. and still with the Battn. told informant he saw Shephard killed in No Mans [sic] Land during the attack.'
