Military Medal 'During the operations near BELLICOURT from 30th September to 2nd October 1918 this N.C.O. displayed marked coolness, judgement and bravery throughout the whole operation. He was one of a small party who bombed 600 yards up the main enemy trench and caused many casualties by his excellent grenade throwing. During an enemy counter attack he stood up on the parapet regardless of his personal safety and threw bombs at the advancing enemy with great effect. He was to be seen throughout in the midst of the very thickest of the fighting and set a splendid example of courage and determination to all ranks.'
